Frequently Asked
Questions

Choosing a photographer can be a daunting task. Being informed can help you feel confident in picking a photographer that most suits your needs and budget. Here I answer the most frequently asked questions from prospective clients. 

1. 

Where are you located?

I am located in Etobicoke and primarily serve Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga.  Additional travel fees may apply to photoshoots outside of this area. I usually shoot at outdoor locations, customer's homes, as well as Mintroom Studios.

Do you require a deposit to book?

I require a 20-35% deposit to secure your booking. Deposit amount will be confirmed at time of booking. In cases where a photoshoot requires a studio or location booking fee, this deposit pays for that fee and is therefore non-refundable/non-transferrable. The remaining balance is due on the date of the session. All sessions require a signed contract to confirm booking.

What are the payment options? 

Currently I am accepting payments through e-transfer as well as cash. E-transfers can be sent to maxx@maxwellgiffenphotography.com

Do you offer custom packages? 

I offer several package options for each service I provide, however I understand that every client is different and their needs may not fit in with any of my packages. To receive a custom quote, send me an email with what type of photoshoot you'd like, as well as desired session length and amount of images. Emails will typically be answered within 24 hours.

What happens after the photo session?

After the photo session I will cull your images (remove the blinking, blurry, repetitive, etc.) and then edit for exposure, colour correction, and composition. These images will be sent to you in a Proof Gallery (watermarked) approximately 5 days after your session. Once you select your favourite images, I will retouch them (remove blemishes) and will deliver your final edited gallery within 7-10 days of your image selection. A rush fee will apply if you'd like to receive your images earlier than this stated time frame.

What kind of editing do you provide?

My editing includes the removal of major blemishes, colour correction, enhanced lighting and saturation, reducing fly-away hairs and overly shiny skin, as well emoval of unwanted/distracting objects from the background (garbage cans, wall outlets, etc). My focus while editing is always on producing natural images that are not overly processed. Additional fees will apply if further editing is requested by customer (ie. smoothing skin texture, body sculpting).

Do you provide raw images?

I do not provide the raw images to my clients. Taking the photos is only one part of the art of photography and I do not provide clients with my unfinished work.

Do you offer prints?

I do offer some print products, which you can learn more about on my product page. All packages include a print release which allows you to print your purchased images at a lab at your choice.

Do you offer gift cards?

Maxwell Giffen Photography allows you to purchase a gift card in $50 increments or any customized amount. Purchase a customized digital gift card for a loved one and give the gift of memories that they'll be able to look back upon for a lifetime!  

What happens if I've booked an outdoor session & it rains?

Take a look at the weather one day prior to your session. If there is a high chance of inclement weather then contact me and we will discuss a date to possibly reschedule. Keep in mind that overcast conditions are my preference over sunny skies as clouds produce more even, flattering lighting. This is also why the best time to book your shoot is during the Golden Hour (the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset when the sun‘s position in the sky is lower).

Are you vaccinated? 

Yes, I have received four doses of the Covid vaccine. I am also happy to wear an N95 mask if you request it.
